KNU (Kyungpook National University) and Museum:
Modern Culture Alley (Jeil church, old missionary residences – turned into museums, Gyesan Cathedral, ~100 year old apple tree brought by the missionaries from Missouri, USA – Daegu is famous for their apples (Jonathan, Fuji, and Hongros – Cross btw Spur Earliblaze and Spur Golden Delicious), and Roman Catholic church.
Yangymeongsi Museum of Oriental Medicine:
Mt. Apsan Observatory, Cable Car, and War Memorial Museum of the Nakdong River Battle: Third time is a charm! I missed the cable car in Hong Kong and Taiwan. I finally made it on a cable car ride to the observatory. I did not realize how large Daegu was until I saw the city below. After I got to the top, I took a short hike to one of the peaks!
Modern History Museum, Police History Experience Hall, and Gyeongsang-Gamyeong Park:
Shopping areas: There is an alley for everything: Jewelry, shoes, specific foods (coffee, rice cakes, meat stews, noodles, fish, pork), electronic devises, cafes, rodeo (high end fashion), hand made shoes, medicine, etc. Here are some pictures of random things!! Asia loves Snoopy! The cafe owner really does look like Van Gogh, the cafe owner still has both ears.
Seomun Market – This is the location of less expensive clothing, shoes, and food. I ate Daegu dumplings (noodle flat dumplings), knife cut noodles soups, and haddock (fried dough stuffed w/ brown sugar, cinnamon, and walnuts). The market is huge, I didn’t take many pictures!
Gatbawi Buddha: There must be a lot of people hiking on this trail because there are stairs, handrails, and lights for all ~1400 steps to the top.
Samsung Lions: We bought tickets to see a baseball game, but the game was cancelled. The drain grates had baseball themes! The hieroglyphs were on the columns in the subway station.
